BY WORD OF NOSE

An ongoing creative project about belonging, beauty and breath with the nose as our guide.

By Word of Nose is an evolving creative project that uses the nose as a playful entry point into questions of identity, belonging, connection, and being human. What began as an artistic exploration has grown into a collection of sculptures, stories, workshops, performances, collaborations, and participatory experiences.

The Legend of The Nose Tree & Puppenings

In 2025, By Word of Nose presented a public participatory art event bringing puppets and people together through performance, storytelling, play, and collective imagination. The inaguaral By Word of Nose Puppening centered on the Legend of The Nose Tree and invited participants to co-write and perform 5 line plays giving voice to their noses.

Each Puppening is built as a complete experience, bringing together concept development, character and puppet creation, visual world-building, performers, collaborators, audience participation, and production.
